This property, approximately 5 miles west of Adair, Oklahoma, consists of a mix of mainly upland hardwoods such as Hickory (Carya spp.), Black Oak (Quercus velutina) and Post Oak (Quercus stellata). Most of the timber in the stand is of high quality with straight boles and free of many significant defects. Soils are conducive to logging in most any weather. The tract is very maneuverable with little understory to interfere with skidder operation. The main objective in the timber harvest is to improve cattle grazing, so this will be a relatively heavy cut. A diameter limit cut may be utilized with a certain number of larger-diameter trees left to regenerate the stand, provide hard mast for wildlife and loafing cover for the cattle. Timber Stand Improvement will be performed following the cut as well to ensure that high-grading is not an issue as the owners will cut the poorer-quality trees for firewood and other uses. A performance bond will be required to be put up as well as 20% of the bid value at contract signing. More details to come. Please contact USFWC if you would like to visit the property. |
