Feeder Placement

If desired and when legal and not a danger of
spreading disease, we'll help you place your
feeders to help keep deer on your property and
maximize sightings.
Nice, young buck; a trophy to
most, but he really needs a couple
more years to meet management
goals for the property from which
the picture was taken
Old-Age Bucks

Ever wonder what it would be
like to own a property where
at least some of the bucks
die of old-age rather than
from 'lead poisoning'?  We
will help you lay out and
design your property to
where that chance is
maximized.
Our Management
Philosophy:

We have a holistic approach
to deer management that
gives a buck sanctuary,
optimal natural habitat
nutrition and protects them
from harvest until they have
become mature animals while
setting up your property to
maximize your chances for
hunting success through
intelligent habitat
management as well as
strategic food plot
placement, sizing and layout
while trying to minimize the
effects of other factors
such as
access, poaching,
neighbors and natural
processes.
Population &
Buck:Doe Estimates

We can conduct
spotlight surveys
to help determine
population size
and buck:doe ratio.

We can also do
camera surveys to
help determine
buck age structure
and sex ratio.
Age Structure

Age of your bucks is the most
critical element when properly
managing your buck herd. A
well-balanced age structure in the
male segment of the population
reduces the stress they have
during the rut. This results in
less rut-related mortality amongst
your bucks as well as healthier
deer going into the following
year. Suppressed breeding activity
of younger bucks allows more of
their energy to be put towards
developing their bodies which
results in better overall
development and fitness.
NEW SERVICE:

with a number or
otherwise unique
description and if
you potentially

in several
pictures, please
advise us of such.
We will also need
the property
location (state and
a nearby city) as
well as the date
that the picture
was taken. Please
do not send more
than 20 pictures
and one e-mail
before receiving a
response that we
have received and
aged the ones that

Predator Control

When predator numbers get high, it may be necessary
to control their numbers as well. In most cases, it
is better to time predator removal well than to
pressure your propertyfor an extended period of
time. We will show you how.
Buck to Doe Ratio

The relative number of bucks to
does is a critical management
point. Knowing what your ratio is
allows you to manage your herd
accordingly. A balanced ratio
results in a well-defined and
intense rut. The shorter rutting
period means that most all of the
does will get bred at the same
general time and the fawns will
also be dropped at the same
general time the following summer.
This results in prey saturation
where the predators are somewhat
'overwhelmed' with prey for a
brief period. This shorter period
of prey availability results in an
overall higher survival rate and
reduced loss to predation.
Managing Your Neighbor's Standards

As a landowner managing for a
better deer herd, one of the most
frustrating things you can deal
with are neighbors that harvest
young deer like this 1.5 year-old
below. We can help to subtly
convince them to adhere to
managing the herd as you do.
